Gaming Industry for Ukraine överträffar insamlingsmålet på 250 000 pund
”Gaming Industry for Ukraine”, en global insamling för spelindustrin som inleddes tidigare denna månad för att stödja människor i Ukraina, har överskridit sitt ursprungliga mål på 250 000 pund (298 817 euro/328 226 dollar).
Det insamlade beloppet uppgår för närvarande till 251 425 pund, och arrangörerna uppmanar till en sista satsning fram till slutet av mars för att generera ytterligare medel för dem som drabbats av Rysslands invasion av Ukraina.
Betsson Group är fortfarande den största donatorn hittills, med ett löfte om 50 000 pund till initiativet, medan andra betydande bidrag kom från Spribe OU, Oryx Gaming, Games Global, Microgaming, Funfair Games, Fast Track, FSB, Vixio, Enteractive, OLBG, SBC, Clarion Gaming, Just for the Win och Better Collective.
Kampanjen kommer att ge medel till Choose Love, en registrerad välgörenhetsorganisation som kommer att rikta donationerna till en rad icke-statliga organisationer som stöder rent humanitära insatser på plats.
Choose Love har hittills beviljat stöd till 23 organisationer som tillhandahåller hjälp i och omkring Ukraina. Sedan kampanjen inleddes har den avsatt 1,4 miljoner dollar till humanitära organisationer, inklusive pengar som samlats in från spelindustrins kampanj.
Bland annat gick 175 000 dollar till Caritas välgörenhetsorganisation för att hjälpa till att betala bränsle och lastbilar som används för att stödja humanitära projekt i och runt Ukraina.
Dessutom skickades 50 000 dollar till Humanitas välgörenhetsorganisation för att köpa medicinska förnödenheter, medan 30 000 dollar gick till Integra, en slovakisk icke-statlig organisation med ett nätverk av team och partner i området, för transportförnödenheter.
Ytterligare 30 000 dollar användes för att tillhandahålla juridiskt stöd, evakueringshjälp och boende för hbtq-personer i Ukraina.
”Jag har alltid varit stolt över att vara medlem i spelbranschen och aldrig mer efter att ha sett hur de har ställt sig bakom denna kampanj för att skicka hjälp till Ukraina”, säger Shona O’Donnell, medarrangör av Gaming Industry for Ukraine och chef för strategiska evenemang på Better Collective.
